Remove Legacy Health CNO Dr. Kecia Kelly

Remove Legacy Health CNO Dr. Kecia Kelly
The Issue
As I wrap up fifteen years as a Legacy Health RN, I want to take the opportunity to address a troublesome situation that has been on the minds of many Legacy nurses. I join a long list of employees who have left Legacy Health these past few years. Each of us have our reasons for leaving, but I bet we share a common sentiment of profound disappointment in Legacy Health leaders. As an RN, I have been embarrassed and even shocked by the unprofessional behavior of our Chief Nursing Officer (CNO), Dr. Kecia Kelly. I am frustrated that our senior leaders have done nothing to stop her behaviors despite many complaints lodged by employees. A Chief Nursing Officer should set a professional tone and be an example to nursing staff.
Dr. Kelly gives the impression she is focused more on growing her TikTok following than advocating for Legacy Health nurses. Dr. Kelly violates Legacy Health's social media policy nearly every day by filming and posting TikTok videos while at work. Legacy Health's social media policy prohibits the use of social media while on work time as seen in this snippet of the policy below.
Over the course of her short tenure as Legacy Health System CNO, Dr. Kelly has filmed hundreds of videos in her office. On May 18, 2023, Dr. Kelly filmed the three videos below on the same work day. The embedded video links were broken on June 10, 2023 when Dr. Kelly deleted or hid the hundreds of videos she had previously filmed in her office from her TikTok account, likely in response to this Change.org petition. To film three TikTok videos in one day suggests these videos she filmed in her office weren't simply done at the end of the day (on her personal time), but were actually filmed throughout her workday. Please refer to this website to view some of Dr. Kelly's videos and to learn about the other Legacy employees who have reported Dr. Kelly and the responses they received from Legacy leadership.

Dr. Kelly's TikTok videos often feature her dancing in her corporate office to offensive, profanity-laden, and racially insensitive music. These TikTok videos have been the topic of many discussions amongst Legacy nursing staff after Dr. Kelly's TikTok account was first discovered by us in January and February 2022. It is baffling that as employees we are required annually to review Legacy's social media policy and acknowledge any violations may result in discipline while our Chief Nursing Officer violates the policy without fear of any penalty.
The annual education advises staff to report anyone we see violating Legacy's social media policy. I and several other employees have reported these videos. On March 3, 2023, I forwarded one of the more profane videos Dr. Kelly filmed at work to Human Resources and to Legacy Health President & CEO, Kathryn Correia. I was assigned a Human Resources case number but received no response or acknowledgement of my concerns from either Human Resources or Kathryn Correia. This lack of response conveys a complete disregard for employees' concerns about our CNO and it demonstrates that leadership supports Dr. Kelly's social media policy violations. You may view the video I reported on this website.

Now that I am leaving Legacy, I feel free to share my concerns about Dr. Kelly publicly. I created this petition to urge Legacy Health to remove Dr. Kelly from her role as CNO. Please sign the petition if you agree Dr. Kelly should be removed. You can sign the petition anonymously. I encourage you to include a comment to share your thoughts about Dr. Kelly to Legacy leadership, but keep in mind your comment will be public. I understand it may be nerve-wracking to have your name visible with your comment, but I believe there is safety in numbers. If you choose to comment, please include your work site and your number of years of service at Legacy. By doing so, it will show the concerns about Dr. Kelly are shared by employees throughout the system, and are held by both new and long-term staff.
My plan is to share the petition with Legacy Health leadership on June 30, 2023. Please distribute this petition to all Legacy nursing staff including our CNA colleagues.
**Note: This petition is not a fundraiser. I noticed that a few people have donated. After doing a little research my understanding is that a person can donate to boost the views on this petition. Feel free to boost away, but you can do so for free by sharing the change.org link as well. Thanks, everyone!
Sincerely,
Jeannie Jacobs, RN
