Petition for Accountability and Impeachment of Judge Aiesha Redmond

On behalf of DFW COVID Hero and lifelong ICU nurse Plaintiff Erica King, this petition seeks accountability for what King alleges were serious judicial failures and abuses of authority during proceedings before Judge Aiesha Redmond of the 160th Civil District Court in Dallas, Texas. King alleges that Judge Redmond’s conduct violated the principles embodied in Article 15 of the Texas Constitution and Chapter 665 of the Texas Government Code, including provisions concerning incompetence, unreasonable delay, official misconduct, bias, prejudice, partiality, oppression, neglect of duty, morally unfit conduct, and abuse of judicial authority. According to King, this conduct undermined the integrity of the judicial process and eroded public confidence in the courts.

Fair trials in matters involving Civil Rights and Fair Housing are not optional. Judicial integrity is not negotiable. The people of Texas are entitled to a judiciary that operates impartially, transparently, and without favoritism.

Allegations Concerning Judicial Conduct and Interference with Presentation of Case

On November 29th, 2021, King became the first and only Black Athena Condominium Co-Owner in the history of the Athena, which Defendants did not deny under deposition oath.

After more than three years of litigation, the case against Athena Condominium Co-Owners Association & Intercity Investments Inc, proceeded to trial in September 2025 before Judge Aiesha Redmond.

King alleges that Judge Redmond’s conduct during trial denied her a meaningful and fair opportunity to present her case. During King’s testimony, Judge Redmond allegedly engaged in repeated audible and nonverbal conduct—including noises, exaggerated facial expressions, eye rolling, and gestures directed toward King’s counsel—in the presence of the jury. King contends that this conduct was disruptive and distracting and interfered with the orderly presentation of her testimony.

King further alleges that Judge Redmond’s conduct repeatedly disrupted the line of questioning being pursued by King’s counsel, diverted counsel’s focus, and interrupted the flow of King’s testimony. According to King, the interruptions were not isolated incidents but formed a recurring pattern that impaired counsel’s ability to question King fully and effectively and impaired King’s ability to present her testimony without undue interference.

King further alleges that Judge Redmond’s expressions, gestures, audible reactions, and interruptions conveyed a lack of judicial respect for the substance and seriousness of King’s testimony. King contends that the conduct diminished the dignity of the proceedings, undermined the credibility and seriousness of her testimony before the jury, and created the appearance that her testimony was being mocked or treated as unworthy of serious consideration.

King additionally alleges that Judge Redmond repeatedly interrupted the progression of counsel’s examination, thereby limiting the manner and extent to which King could explain her allegations and supporting facts. King further alleges that, during her testimony, Judge Redmond was visibly observed making gestures and facial expressions toward King’s attorney that appeared intended to signal or pressure counsel to conclude the examination and end King’s testimony. King contends that these repeated gestures and expressions further disrupted counsel’s examination and communicated impatience with the continuation of King’s testimony. Viewed collectively, King contends that Judge Redmond’s conduct interfered with counsel’s examination, disrupted the orderly presentation of evidence, and materially impaired King’s ability to fully present her case to the jury.

King further alleges that Judge Redmond repeatedly sustained defense objections in a manner that prevented approximately four or five of King's supporting witnesses from testifying. She also alleges that relevant portions of her own testimony and the testimony of supporting and expert witnesses were excluded.

King states that relevant testimony from a former Defendant employee who had worked at the property in question, and who allegedly could have testified concerning a culture or pattern of discrimination involving the Defendants, was likewise prevented from reaching the jury.

King alleges that Judge Redmond's conduct—including her facial expressions, rulings, and interruptions, and courtroom management decisions—created the appearance of improper favoritism toward the defense and improper attempt to steer the trial.

She further alleges that defense counsel was permitted to make offensive and xenophobic arguments concerning King’s long-term personal partnership while advocating for a mistrial, without meaningful judicial reprimand or corrective instruction. King contends that these arguments injected irrelevant and prejudicial matters concerning her private life into the proceedings and improperly shifted the focus of the case away from the merits of her Civil Rights and Fair Housing claims.

King alleges that the challenged arguments had no legitimate bearing on the claims before the court and instead sought to characterize, stigmatize, or otherwise diminish her based upon matters unrelated to the conduct at issue in the litigation. King contends that the introduction and advocacy of such irrelevant personal matters diverted attention from the substantive evidence, risked inflaming bias and prejudice before the court, and further undermined her ability to receive a fair adjudication of her Civil Rights and Fair Housing claims.

King maintains that, rather than allowing the proceedings to remain focused on the alleged discriminatory conduct and other issues properly before the court, the defense arguments attempted to redirect the proceedings toward irrelevant aspects of King’s personal life. She contends that permitting such arguments without meaningful judicial intervention contributed to an atmosphere in which the merits of her claims were overshadowed by irrelevant and prejudicial characterizations of her, rather than evaluated on the evidence presented.

If substantiated, such conduct raises serious questions concerning judicial impartiality, courtroom fairness, accountability, and public confidence in the administration of justice.

The Juror Meal Controversy

King also raises serious concerns regarding instructions she received from Judge Redmond’s court coordinator Nicholas Zaragoza concerning juror meals.

King states that Zaragoza instructed her to purchase and arrange jurors' lunches every other day of trial and represented that the instruction came from Judge Redmond. King alleges that she expressed discomfort with the request and raised concerns about the propriety of personally purchasing juror meals, yet Zaragoza continued to insist that the instruction came from the court.

King states that the defense subsequently accused her of jury tampering.

She maintains that the jury was unaware that she had purchased the meals and that she acted in good faith and in reliance upon instructions from the court. She further alleges that courtroom security-camera footage could establish that at least two defense accusations against her were false.

According to King, the Dallas District Attorney later requested that the Texas Attorney General prevent release of the security footage, asserting that the footage was not subject to the Public Information Act.

King alleges that when her attorney confronted the accusation, Judge Redmond did not accept responsibility for the instruction or the actions of her court coordinator. King contends that this matter warrants independent review because the alleged instruction originated from the court, while she was subsequently accused of misconduct for following it.

Allegedly Prejudicial Arguments Concerning King’s Personal Relationship

King alleges that defense counsel’s treatment of her long-term interracial, age-gap relationship relied on racialized, gendered, age-based, and socioeconomic stereotypes rather than evidence relevant to her Civil Rights and Fair Housing claims. She contends that arguments concerning the substantial age difference between her and her partner, including accusations that she coached or improperly influenced his testimony, portrayed her as controlling, sexually manipulative, financially motivated, or otherwise exercising inappropriate influence over an older White man.

King maintains that these characterizations were inconsistent with the actual circumstances of the relationship and with the parties’ independent identities. King was a proven financially independent, triple-certified critical-care professional who routinely worked multiple jobs, 60-72 hour work weeks and independently developed her financial position and real-estate portfolio. Her financial records, including W-2s and 1099s, evidence that her earnings were consistently comparable to or greater than those of her partner. King contends that the reality contradicts any suggestion that she maintained the relationship for financial gain or dependency.

King further alleges that the accusation that she coached her partner’s testimony improperly implied an age-gap stigma that her older partner lacked the confidence, judgment, or ability to speak independently for himself. She asserts that her partner is a self-assured renowned debater with extensive commentary  and public-speaking experience in the realm of controversial subject matters and that the defense’s misguided characterization distorted the realities of their relationship.

King also alleges that the defense selectively applied these stereotypes. She contends that a substantial portion of defendants & community residents involved, namely similarly situated White women partnered with financially successful men, as well as White same-sex male couples involving age or financial disparities, were not subjected to comparable accusations of financial opportunism, sexual impropriety, manipulation, or diminished character. King argues that this disparity supports her contention that racialized and gendered stereotypes concerning Black women, interracial relationships, and age-gap relationships were selectively directed toward her.

She further alleges that Judge Redmond permitted the defense to make her private relationship a significant focus of mistrial arguments, diverting attention from the evidence underlying her Civil Rights and Fair Housing claims. King contends that the relationship-based attacks had no legitimate connection to the alleged discriminatory conduct and instead encouraged evaluation of her credibility through stereotypes concerning race, gender, age, sexuality, and socioeconomic status. She maintains that these arguments, together with the alleged evidentiary restrictions and judicial conduct, materially impaired her ability to present her case and caused the substantive evidence supporting her claims to be overshadowed by irrelevant and overtly opportunistic character attacks. Weaponizing stigmatizations associated with interracial age-gap partnerships was a convenient and otherwise weak crutch on the part of a losing defense team which Redmond demonstrated no objection, order nor reprimand of, further supporting the allegations of unconstitutional judicial bias and prejudice.

King alleges that Judge Redmond spoke in a demeaning and excessively abrasive manner against her when the jury was away and failed to adequately protect the integrity of the proceedings. King further raises concerns about defense political connections, alleged pressure surrounding severe sanctions, the abrupt termination of trial, treatment of witnesses and evidence, and the juror-meal controversy. She calls for independent investigation and accountability concerning Judge Redmond.

Judge Redmond's alleged conduct, as described by Plaintiff King, ranges from disruptive courtroom behavior and unequal treatment to what King characterizes as severe abuse of judicial authority.

Termination of the Trial and Death Penalty Sanctions

King alleges that Judge Redmond ultimately terminated the trial before the jury could complete its consideration of the case.

The jury never had the opportunity to determine penalties or damages. King further states that post-trial feedback from jurors indicated that they had been aggressively receptive to her evidence and were inclined to issue a verdict in her favor and impose consequences against the defense to the tune of 20-25 million in damages for some jurors.

King alleges that, despite the way she believes the trial was conducted, Judge Redmond imposed severe sanctions against her based upon what King characterizes as false allegations, blatant lies, xenophobia, bias, prejudice, oppression and character attacks.

King alleges the defense demonstrated an extreme lack of respect for the judicial process, utilizing multiple underhanded tactics to abuse the court and King’s constitutional rights via malicious trial delays, refusal to turn over discovery documents, discovery evidence dumping, destruction of evidence, Texas Penal Code Chapter 36 violations, 42 U.S. Code 3631 violations and 18 U.S. Code 241 violations, public conspiracy, vicious smear campaign and hate crimes against King in retaliation for her filing the lawsuit. Redmond chose to grant a wayward defense team the most severe form of sanctions possible against King on faulty grounds in lieu of evidential objective facts. For Redmond to end a Civil Rights & Fair Housing trial after hearing scores of King’s support and expert witnesses testify and witnessing the presentation of hard subpoenaed officialized evidence from the City of Dallas and Texas Department of Insurance, is telling of Redmond’s malintent to sabotage King’s justice. Redmond further delayed the filing of the Final Order past the due date despite reminders.

The result, according to King, was that the trial ended abruptly without allowing the jury to fully evaluate the evidence or provide a determination concerning the damage and remedies she sought. Immediately after a defense appellate attorney boasted of having four former Supreme Court Justices within her law office while arguing for death penalty sanctions against King, Redmond granted the defense exactly what they motioned for. Defense attorneys also found a way to make known of Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins affiliation to the defendant(s), namely the HOA President, which King found questionable, since Jenkins announced court shutdowns on King’s earlier April 8th, 2024 trial date, less than a week before trial, a mere 24 hours after King had refused to agree to postpone trial.

King maintains that she was thereby deprived not only of the opportunity to obtain Civil Rights and Fair Housing justice, but also of the opportunity to recover the stability, property, professional opportunities, and financial security she had spent decades building. King asserts that she built her own economic security and stability via working anywhere from 2-4 jobs at a time, 60–72 hour work weeks, was never married and never acquired any manner of generational wealth handouts unlike a significant portion of the Defendants (recipients of trust-funds, property trusts, mineral rights and other forms of generational wealth handouts) who used insurance companies to finance all 11 of their retained attorneys from 3 different law firms, including 3 appellant attorneys.

Is this a two-tier justice system enabling an unequal legal process where different groups of people experience different levels of fairness, punishment, or protection under the law?

A Call for Judicial Accountability

This petition is not merely about one litigant or one courtroom. It is about whether ordinary citizens can enter a courtroom seeking protection of their Civil Rights and Fair Housing rights and reasonably expect an impartial tribunal.

King alleges that she entered the defense community as a homeowner, taxpayer, nurse, and citizen seeking to establish a normal life. Instead, she describes years of escalating conflict, domestic terrorism, housing instability, financial depletion, professional disruption, and litigation culminating in a trial that she asserts was prematurely and unfairly terminated.

King maintains that no litigant should have to sacrifice a lifetime of work merely to obtain a fair opportunity to be heard. She contends that even a successful appeal may leave her facing a profound financial burden, having already liquidated substantial personal assets to finance the litigation and trial that Judge Redmond ultimately terminated before the jury could fully resolve the case. Tangible losses include a paid off brick single family home, a luxury University Park Highland Park ISD high-rise condominium, a corner Preston Hollow condominium, two lucrative rental investment properties, a paid off vehicle, UT Southwestern Medical Center retirement account, Baylor Scott & White Health retirement account, savings and other paid off assets. Intangible losses include a life-long PTSD injury, 5 years and counting of life quality and upward progression, reputational damage and an economically sound future which King built from scratch solo.

King questions how she could realistically afford another trial under those circumstances. She further alleges that, if forced to proceed on contingency, a substantial portion of any recovery could be consumed by attorney fees and IRS tax obligations, potentially including contingency fees of approximately 30% to 40% of damages and tax liabilities of approximately 38% to 42% of damages, leaving her with significantly less of any eventual award despite having personally funded the litigation in full for a trial which Redmond unfairly ended.

King contends that she has already exhausted substantial personal resources and is now placed in a near lose-lose position: unsuccessful litigation leaves her without the assets she sacrificed to pursue justice, while even a successful appeal could require her to incur additional legal expenses and surrender a substantial portion of any recovery. She maintains that this financial predicament compounds the underlying harm and reflects the severe consequences she attributes to the alleged judicial and litigation misconduct.

King therefore contends that she has suffered grave injustice while those responsible for the alleged misconduct have not borne comparable financial or personal consequences, further underscoring, in her view, the need for meaningful accountability and judicial review.

Accountability is essential to preserving public confidence in the judiciary. When allegations of judicial misconduct arise, they should be examined objectively, transparently, and through appropriate legal and disciplinary processes.

By signing this petition, members of the public are expressing support for judicial accountability, impartiality, integrity, and equal access to justice.

We ask the appropriate authorities to investigate the conduct described herein, determine whether judicial misconduct occurred, and take whatever action is authorized by law.

Sign this petition to demand accountability for Judge Aiesha Redmond, protect the integrity of the judiciary, and affirm that every person—including Erica King—deserves a fair and impartial opportunity to be heard.
