The Issue

As a concerned parent, I'm raising this petition due to the inappropriate language incorporated in the citywide political signs exhibited in Huntington Beach, CA that read "Protect Our Kids from Porn". These signs were funded by a political action committee (PAC) established by City Councilmember Chad Williams.

My children are still in their early learning years and should not be exposed to such terms, leaving us parents with the complex task of explaining these to them. It's not just about shielding them from explicit content, but also about protecting them from adult-themed language that they aren't ready to comprehend.

Added to this, these signs are extremely misleading. The suggestive language leads people to misconstrue the current regulations and measures established by the library.

As a city, we must insist on relevant and age-appropriate content in our public spaces.  This is a non-partisan request in the hopes to protect our children from this kind of language displayed all over the city.  Please sign this petition to urge the city council to take down these inappropriate political signs before the June 10th election.  Opponents to Measures A & B are welcome to post alternate signs to encourage "no" votes, please take down the ones that say "Porn".
