Remove Illogical Concrete Pathways in Nedlands

Remove Illogical Concrete Pathways in Nedlands
The issue
Throughout my life , I found solace in maintaining my verge, a small patch of land that brought me immeasurable joy. However, recent changes have threatened not only my sanctuary but also the principles of thoughtful urban planning. The Public Transport Authority (PTA) has added concrete pathways to the Nedlands route, specifically affecting Bus Stops SN 17599 and SN 17602, without any community consultation. This sudden alteration in our neighbourhood landscape wasn't planned with the input of the people it impacts most.
These pathways are not only a disruption to the aesthetics and environmental harmony of the area but are also a poorly considered use of taxpayer money. Currently, only up to 38 people use this route fortnightly. Logic would dictate that such investments should be reserved for areas with higher pedestrian traffic where they are truly needed.
Moreover, the placement of these pathways does not follow a coherent pattern, further emphasizing the inconsistency in how bus stops throughout the state or area are treated. This affects the broader community, not just those who maintain their verges, like myself. The inconsistent treatment of these pathways breeds confusion and dissatisfaction among residents.
We urge local authorities to reassess this development and remove these concrete pathways. Returning to the previous state not only honors the wishes of the Nedlands community but also respects sustainable urban planning principles, ensuring funds are allocated in a manner beneficial to all.
Join me in advocating for a return to a logical and community-centered approach to public infrastructure. Please sign this petition to support our cause and ensure that future changes are made with proper consultation and foresight.
