Remove Homeless Encampments from Riverside Reservoirs

The Issue

Our once peaceful Monticeto community is now overshadowed by the looming presence of homeless encampments that have taken root in our local reservoirs. These areas are not just parts of our neighborhood; they are adjacent to our backyards and, more alarmingly, near an elementary school where our children learn and play. As parents and residents, we feel powerless watching this encroachment introduce dangers we hoped to shield our families from.

The realities are daunting. Encampments in these areas have brought with them a surge of illicit activities, creating an environment where drugs, prostitution, and, tragically, instances of violent crime have become all too common. We wake up in a state of anxiety, concerned for our safety and that of our children. The presence of these camps undermines the very essence of community security and peace of mind.

Yet, this is not a plea for dismissal or discrimination against the homeless. We are asking for action, solutions, and support. By relocating these encampments, addressing the root causes of homelessness, and providing necessary support services, we can strive for a resolution that favors everyone. The responsibility and the capability to enact these changes lie in the hands of our local authorities.

We urge the Riverside Sheriff Department, the City Council, and all relevant agencies to step in. By prioritizing the relocation of these encampments, they will not only restore the safety and tranquility of our neighborhood but also enable the rightful allocation of resources and care towards those in need.

The safety of our children and the sanity of our community are at stake. We ask you to sign this petition to support a safer, more secure Riverside for everyone. Take a stand and be a part of the change.
