Remove Hedge and Construct Wall in Mellows Park

The Issue

The residents of the neighbourhood surrounding Mellows Park, hereby petition for the construction of a wall on the side of Mellows Park similar to the one on the opposite side.

This petition is driven by the following concerns that have been affecting our community:

Rodent Issue:

• The ongoing rodent problem has been a concern for years and has negatively impacted the cleanliness and hygiene of the park

Greater Visibility:

• The construction of a wall would provide greater visibility into the park

Reduced Antisocial Behavior:

A clear line of sight would deter antisocial activities, creating a safer environment for all Safety:

Parents and guardians would be able to see their children playing in the park, ensuring their safety and peace of mind

Encampments:

• Recently, tents have been erected under the bridge and against the railings, which is unsightly and raises concerns about sanitation and safety.

Gathering of Addicts:

• The secluded areas of the park have become gathering spots for addicts, which poses a risk to the community and children.

The addition of a wall would not only address these issues but also enhance the aesthetic appeal of the park, aligning it with the well-maintained standards of the other side. We believe that this improvement is necessary for the well-being of our community and the preservation of Mellows Park as a cherished public space.

We’re linked in with Counsellor Keith Connolly and Paul McAuliffe regarding this petition and asked for prompt action to commence the construction of the wall.

Together, we can work towards a cleaner, safer, and more welcoming Mellows Park for everyone to enjoy.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Sincerely,

Casement Road Residents Committee
