Remove Guy Busick from Scream 8 – Fans Demand Better Ghostface Writing After Recent Films

The Issue

We are longtime Scream fans heartbroken by the franchise's recent writing direction. Ghostface—the heart of the series—has been sidelined by rushed reveals, recycled motives, and minimal buildup, from Scream (2022) through Scream 7.

What sparked this petition:
Actor Anna Camp, on a podcast March 10, 2026, shared that in Scream 7, Ghostface started with just one main scene; she advocated for an extra moment. While her account highlights production choices, it echoes what audiences saw: a Ghostface with thin presence and no real character buildup. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W_0b23ZLt74

Guy Busick's track record (Scream 5, 6, 7):

Scream (2022): Copies Scream 1 Ghostface's relationship to target.

Scream 6 motive copies Scream 2: Family revenge mirrors Mrs. Loomis exactly—lazy retread without fresh twists.

Scream 7: Lack of buildup and scenes for the character(s) portraying Ghostface.

Filmmaking is collaborative, but Busick's the constant credited writer here. The series needs a reset.

The fix: Hire Kevin Williamson or a different writer for Scream 8

Kevin Williamson (Scream 1-2, 4 writer; Scream 7 director) already brainstormed Scream 8 with Neve Campbell and knows how to nail mystery, emotional stakes, and satisfying Ghostface motives—or bring in equivalent top-tier talent. His originals and Scream 7 direction prove the formula works. Spyglass/Blumhouse: Drop Busick, hand the solo script to Williamson or a proven upgrade to honor Wes Craven.

What we demand:

Remove Guy Busick from Scream 8 writing.
Appoint Kevin Williamson or a better writer as lead.
Restore Ghostface as a suspenseful, central threat with earned reveals.

Why sign?
Scream redefined horror—we've supported it for 30 years, packing theaters for Scream 7's record opening. Don't squander that loyalty on more weak scripts. Share with #Scream8 #FireBusick on Reddit, TikTok, X.
