Samurai Showdown

this is a bit of an exception to the rule as far as classic games go... there are very few games that use swords/melee weapons in a game that is a very obvious spin off of Capcom's Street Fighter series that manages to become its own game with its own storyline, background, and style. the game has had several iterations much like street fighter, adding new characters and more story. i think this game is deserving of a revival, while being a spin off of another game series it could be made to be much more unique and great potential going for it. changes that should be made: - more unique blade styles (real world styles) - more refined characters and personal storylines - full 3D characters and GUI - a in depth backstory - a in depth overall/general storyline now since the game is solely about sword styles and sword play, attention to detail needs to be the focus of the series... this means researching all forms of sword styles as well as moves, adjustments, blocking, attaching, and subforms of the sword styles. this would also mean some major changes to a few of the characters, one of those being the 'sorcerer' boss (forget his name currently)... notably the removal of the crystal ball as a weapon, which was always out of place in the series, as well as the arm gun thing which was just ridiculous. the gun arm would be replaced with a sword arm instead or a ball and chain... the crystal ball could be transformed into a crystal sword at the beginning of each fight or replaced with a bladed staff with the crystal ball on one end and the blade being on the other... much else needs to be considered in regards to making any changes because we do not want to destroy what made the game fun, but make a much clearer game focus on melee/sword fighting, other factors will have to be considered for canon and lore that has been built up a bit around the game series as well as what effect any changes would have to longtime fans of the series. i would like to see the game series become more true to itself and any future development make it unique to itself relying less on what was sort of copied from the street fighter series to make it completely distinct from any other vs fighter game.
