The Issue

We have experienced displeasures at Jonesboro High School, GA. The students deserves educators who provide a positive learning environment. For the few weeks, Ms. Muddu has provided an unfair and inaccurate education for the students with dismissive behavior, unfair grading methods, or lying to administrators. Students have reported difficulty following certain lessons when teaching methods or expectations change without sufficient explanation. Some students also have difficulty understanding verbal instruction due to her Indian accent and believe that additional clarification, written instructions, or other forms of communication would help ensure that everyone can understand the material.

Recent classroom experiences reported by students  suggest a pattern of behavior that includes dismissive attitudes toward student concerns. Students have attempted to communicate legitimate concerns regarding the classroom environment, technology problems, and other issues affecting their ability to participate in class. We feel that these concerns are sometimes dismissed rather than investigated or addressed even when they are highly required for education.

Students have reported difficulty being permitted to use the bathroom when necessary. We understand that teachers need reasonable classroom procedures, but students believe there should be a reasonable way to address legitimate bathroom needs without feeling ignored or dismissed. It gets to a point where students HAVE to leave the classroom without permission that results in an unfair write up by Ms. Muddu, I believe students shouldn’t be reported for bathroom emergencies when she doesn’t even acknowledge them.

Students are concerned that their complaints have not received the same consideration as the teacher’s account of events. For example, students have raised concerns about incidents where they believe statements made about their behavior were inaccurate, including an allegation that a student was using their phone, Muddu always made false claims about students and makes a sudden change in behavior when a principal or any other administrator enters the classroom.

We have also been informed of previous complaints and a petition concerning Ms. Muddu from Dutchtown Middle School with reports of her accusingly touching a student’s private area. Just from that alone, students are highly uncomfortable with the allegation and we have been assured those complaints has reached the administration of our school without any further explanation from them. Regardless of the outcome of any individual incident, we believe student complaints should be independently investigated rather than automatically dismissed, especially when complaints are always made.

If you believe these concerns deserve to be heard and that Ms. Muddu’s conduct and teaching practices warrant further administrative review, please sign below to show support to the students who experience this!
