We have a major breakthrough in our fight for justice! On March 14, 2025, Senators John Cornyn and Ted Cruz introduced Senate Bill 1071 (S.1071) in the 119th Congress. This bill directs the Secretary of Veterans Affairs to disinter the remains of Fernando V. Cota from Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in Texas.
📜 Official Bill Details: Congress.gov - S.1071
Why This Matters
Fernando V. Cota, a Vietnam War veteran, was a suspected serial killer linked to the brutal murders of six women in San Jose, California, in 1984. He died by suicide after attempting to kidnap another victim, leaving behind a legacy of terror. Despite these horrific crimes, he was buried with full military honors at a national cemetery meant to honor true heroes.
This is an absolute disgrace to the men and women who have served honorably. Our national cemeteries should not be the final resting place for suspected killers.
