Many people with disabilities and the elderly can no longer view the beach from the supportive benches due to the ugly fencing installed by the Park District. This fence blocks easy viewing of the dunes and beach, destroying the natural beauty and pristine nature of Gillson Beach for all Wilmette residents.

Many residents believe South Beach should remain free of charge and accessible to all. We have seen Wilmette residents playing instruments under the shade of dune trees and our teenagers hanging in hammocks. 

The Wilmette Park District should be responsive and transparent to its citizens' views regarding how to utilize South Beach. Removing these fences will restore accessibility and preserve our community's enjoyment of this beautiful natural space.

Gillson's south beach should remain open, clear and free.
