Remove Doug Ettinger as CEO of Canada Post

The Issue

Canada Post is set to strike again as negotiations have continued to fail for months following the previous strike.

The failure of Canada Post to remain operational will not only hurt the over 55'000 workers who will be back off the job, but it will also affect millions of Canadians and small business owners who rely on their services.

Here are some fast facts about Canada Post:

#1 Canada Post is a crown corporation owned by the people of this nation

#2 Canada Post is self funding they do not rely on tax payers to fund their operations in fact over it's 44 year history Canada Post has returned billions to the Federal coffers

#3 Canada Post is the only mail carrier that delivers to many areas of our country

#4 Canada Post is far cheaper and basically essential for the operation of many small businesses across the country when compared to it's foreign owned competition

#5 Canada Post is attempting to gut staff and move towards the part time gig economy which offers little to no protections for its workers

#6 Canada Post CEO is compensated at 500'000$ a year before bonuses which he and his board have never skipped accepting even while complaining how broke the company is

#7 Doug Ettinger CEO of Canada Post is a director at Purolator a company that stands to make heavy profits from the failure of Canada Post to remain operational

#8 The vast majority of Canada Post staff earn below 30$ an hour with bottom positions starting as low as 17.30$ (0.10$ above minimum wage in Ontario)

#9 Canada Post had already asked for an increase to lettermail fees before the last strike occurred increasing the price of lettermail requires ministerial approval they were already raising prices long before any strike

#10 Canada Post has walked away from the bargaining table with their staff on multiple occasions, they are supposed to represent the people's interests, our interests lie with keeping Canada Post operational

Mr Ettinger as the CEO of Canada Post is an employee of the people, and despite his bloated salary and massive bonuses he has failed to negotiate in the best interest of the people and businesses of our nation. It is time that we cut the fat from Canada Post, starting with the highest paid leadership positions who are clearly incapable of handling their positions effectively.
