We, the undersigned residents and community members, respectfully request that the Board of Aldermen formally recommend the resignation of Alderman DEREK THIBEAULT  due to conduct unbecoming of a public official.

Public service requires professionalism, respect, and a commitment to representing all citizens fairly. Unfortunately, Alderman DEREK THIBEAULT has repeatedly demonstrated behavior that violates these basic expectations. During public meetings, he has routinely yelled at, belittled, and degraded residents who come forward to speak. Citizens who are simply exercising their FIRST AMENDMENT  right to participate in local government.

This pattern of hostility has created an environment where many residents no longer feel safe or respected when addressing their elected officials. No citizen should fear being mocked, shouted down, or personally attacked by the very person elected to represent them and not show up at a BOA meeting because of this.

In addition to this ongoing behavior, Alderman DEREK THIBEAULT  has been the subject of multiple ethics complaints, raising further concerns about his ability to uphold the standards of integrity and accountability expected of public office.

Our community deserves leadership that listens, respects differing viewpoints, and conducts itself with dignity. When an elected official consistently fails to meet these standards, it is the responsibility of the governing body to act.

We therefore call on the Board of Aldermen to:

• Acknowledge the pattern of inappropriate conduct
• Affirm the community’s right to respectful treatment
• Recommend that Alderman DEREK THIBEAULT resign from his position for the good of the city

This petition is not about politics. It is about basic decency, ethical behavior, and restoring trust in our local government.

We ask the Board to stand with the citizens they serve and take action.
