We have one final chance to persuade Monmouthshire County Council (MCC) not to install dangerous cattle grids at the exits/entrances to Castle Meadows. The Planning Committee recently approved the Active Travel Plan for the Meadows (which means widened paths and new paths from Ysbtty Fields), but cattle grids were deemed 'permitted development' so removed from the requirement for planning permission - further consultation IS therefore possible.
So, PLEASE HELP us with this last attempt to prevent up to TEN grids being installed, which would be a danger to dogs, young children and cyclists, and prevent access for dog owners who use mobility scooters. Ironically, they would also probably end the practice of grazing cattle on the meadows. There's a very long list of reasons NOT to have these grids - and only one argument in favour: to enable easier and faster wheeled travel. But are the meadows with its shared (but undelineated) paths the place for speeding cyclists and electric scooters?
PLEASE FILL OUT THIS FORM - it'll take less than 5 minutes, but the data can then be compiled for MCC so that they can see the strength of feeling.
