Remove Clear Backpacks From CISD Schools

Remove Clear Backpacks From CISD Schools
The Issue
Lately, CISD students are going to have to get clear backpacks. I have a friend that spent almost $80 on their school backpack, just so that they can use it for one semester! This is a stupid rule, and it actually will make people start stealing or getting things stolen. You see, if somebody has something in their bag, and we have clear backpacks, somebody can see what they have, and take it, because they know it's valuable. With normal backpacks, who can tell what's in there! Some students (such as myself) have a lunch bag that they carry, instead of putting their lunch in their backpack. Since my lunch bag is not transparent, there will be no use for it, and I got is as a birthday present, I hate when I don't use what I get for presents, it makes the people that got it for me sad. I will not stand for this! One of my friends say: "This rule is so dumb, students can be trusted, if one student brings something bad, then that's on them, not the good kids like us!" Another student states: "If they were going to make this change, they should have announced it before the year had started, now my parents wasted $45 on my backpack! Plus, all having the same backpack does not let students be true to themselves, backpacks are a beacon of self expression, if we all have the same one, what does that show? It shows that CISD students are not leaders, they are followers, they all do the same thing. Sure, you can get a pink clear backpack, or a blue one, but still, clear is clear, and clear is plain." Many students at Community High School, Edge Middle School, and Community Trails are so upset with this. What's next, school uniforms?! This is outrageous and students are going mad. I'm a 6th grader at Edge Middle School, and it's great, but there are many kids that steal, so I don't want them to see any valuables in my bag and take it! Plus, what if a kid has something humiliating in their bag, kids will make fun of them!
Please stand against this!
