This petition is deeply personal to me. The tragic death of a high school sophomore, Nex Benedict, it happened under Secretary of Public Instruction Ryan Walters' video labeling Trans children as threats, and the subsequent posting of a video of a librarian in Tulsa led to bomb threats at schools. This incident has highlighted the dangerous influence that individuals like Chaya Raichik can have on our education system.

Chaya Raichik currently serves on the Library Media Advisory Committee despite having no background in library sciences or education. Furthermore, she has no connection to our state of Oklahoma. Her appointment appears to be based solely on right-wing extremist ideology rather than merit.

Ms. Raichik's presence on this committee is not only inappropriate but also poses a threat to our children's safety and well-being. She actively promotes Secretary of Public Instruction Ryan Walters' hate campaign against LGBTQ+ individuals and seeks to erase Black and Indigenous history from our educational curriculum.

We cannot allow such harmful ideologies to infiltrate our schools and libraries where they can negatively impact young minds. Therefore, we demand her immediate removal from the Library Media Advisory Committee.
