I am writing this petition out of a deep concern for the community of Nashville and the safety of its residents. Over the past two weeks, we have witnessed tragic incidents that have resulted in the loss of multiple lives—tragedies that could have been avoided. These incidents are a direct result of negligence from Nashville Electric Service (NES), and the lack of adequate response from its leadership. Our CEO, Teresa Broyles-Aplin, bears the responsibility to safeguard our city, yet her ideologies and actions have repeatedly proven otherwise.

Teresa Broyles-Aplin has prioritized budget cuts and has shown a glaring lack of effort in addressing the critical safety needs of Nashville's electric services. Her decisions have led to a decline in the quality and reliability of the electric services, and this has created a dangerous environment for all residents. It's becoming increasingly clear that Teresa's leadership is out of touch with the needs and expectations of our community. Her focus, seemingly more on financial figures than human lives, is not aligned with what Nashville stands for.

The NES Board holds the power to enact change that will better align with the safety and welfare of Nashville residents. By removing Teresa Broyles-Aplin from her position and appointing a new CEO who values and acts upon the safety needs of the community, we can foster an environment where effective leadership is felt by all. We need someone who not only understands but actively prioritizes resident safety above financial austerity.

NES plays an indispensable role in the wellbeing of our city, and it's crucial to have a leader who respects and honors this responsibility with the seriousness it deserves. We need transparent, compassionate, and proactive leadership that places the safety of residents at the forefront. It is with these pressing concerns, and in memory of those we have lost, that I urge the NES Board to act now.
