Freedom of speech is a core value in America, and in mine. However, it does not protect Mark Bray from the consequences of citing political violence, doxxing, or calling anybody fascists without proper context. This past weekend, Mark Bray issued a post on Blue Sky stating that he had been doxed, harassed, and received death threats from people. The main purpose of this petition and interview with Fox News was to educate donors, non-students, alumni, and current students on who Mark Bray is as a person. I do not endorse death threats, doxxing, or harassment and would not wish them on anyone, especially Mark Bray.
To grow positively as a society, we must not resort to violence but instead start a conversation on issues we don't agree with. Petitioning and speaking out are ways that we can, and I have done so. This goes for Antifa’s long-term history of violence, and even right-wing affiliates.
Our mission to have Mark Bray dismissed from Rutgers University has not changed, and we believe that Mark Bray’s affiliation with a terrorist organization, calls to political violence, and strategy of doxxing right-wing identifiers is concerning. We hope that Rutgers acts appropriately regarding his conduct with ANTIFA, and past statements.
