Dear Daniel Thank you for raising your concerns about the benches with us. As ward councillors, we have been looking into this for you and we know that council officers have too. Daniel, Adrian and I have now received confirmation from American Express. Please see below for details: · The benches on Edward Street were installed by American Express as part of the demolition of the former Amex House site · It was never their intention to restrict their use · The benches were chosen for their ease of use by people with limited mobility and for their sturdiness · Following resident feedback (including your petition details) that ward councillors have shared with them, American Express are looking at having the benches replaced as soon as possible In light of this, we would be very grateful if you can remove the petition and notify others that the council was not responsible and that the benches will be replaced. All the best Karen Councillor Karen Barford, Queen’s Park Ward Lead Member for Adult Social Care Deputy Chair of Brighton and Hove Health and Wellbeing Board So we got to the bottom of it in the end. I do hope those Amex install a range of benches for all to enjoy, including those homeless and those with mobility issues.
