The Issue

I‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ am a student, and I believe Amplify has been so redundant that it no longer supports my learning the way it should but rather, it has become a source of disruption, limitation, and even weakening of my academic experience, which I feel every day in class. The same or very similar activities are often repeated from one lesson to the next, and the nonstop repetition makes it more and more difficult to stay interested, focused, or motivated, regardless of the amount of effort I put into engaging with the material.

Instead of being an opportunity to develop, find new ideas, acquire essential skills, and truly challenge oneself, it has become something that resembles a routine chore rather than a valuable learning experience. We, students, discuss this matter everyday and it is obvious that many of us are frustrated, bored, and disengaged because Amplify doesn’t correspond with the way we learn and doesn’t help us get a deeper or more meaningful understanding of the subjects.

It is not that we are offered a variety of activities, creative learning methods, or assignments that require us to think critically, but rather that we are doing the same kinds of tasks over and over again to the extent that it seems that we are not learning anything new at all. This repetitive format disengages us not only from the tasks but also from the students because it seems that we are not making any progress, not improving, and not being challenged in a way that helps us grow as students.

We need lessons that do that: arouse curiosity, initiate discussions, and encourage us to think about the world in different ways—lessons which do not result in us feeling exhausted, unmotivated, and disappointed because we are aware that school could be so much more than what Amplify offers us. When Amplify is more and more repetitive, we feel less and less connected to the topics we are supposed to study which, in turn, lead to school being less meaningful and efficient.

It is frustrating to be in a position where our potential seems to be limited by a program that fails to meet our needs, does not foster creativity, and does not facilitate the acquisition of the kinds of skills that we will actually need in the future. For this reason, I would be very grateful if we could receive any assistance in locating better alternatives that would provide students like me with an educational experience that is more engaging, challenging, and effective, i.e., one which excites us to learn, makes us proud of our achievements, and supports our growth.

In my opinion, getting rid of Amplify would be a great move toward making school more meaningful, inspiring and advantageous not only for me but for all those who have a genuine desire to learn and achieve ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌success.
