As the current seniors who have dedicated years to our school's cheerleading team, this is meant to be our special moment—a night to celebrate our accomplishments, hard work, and memories. Yet, this year, our school administration has decided to include alumni cheerleaders in our Senior Night celebrations. This is the first time such a decision has been made, and it feels deeply unfair and frustrating.

Senior Night is traditionally reserved for honoring those who are graduating, giving them one last chance to step into the spotlight, shine on the field, and be recognized for their contribution and dedication. Inviting past alumni to participate not only diminishes this unique opportunity for us but also takes away from the significance of this tradition. This night represents a culmination of years of teamwork, growth, and spirit for current seniors, and should not be overshadowed by former students.

While we respect the legacy and contributions of past alumni, they have already had their time to be celebrated. There are other appropriate occasions that can be organized to honor alumni, such as class reunions or homecoming events, which would allow both current cheerleaders and alumni to enjoy their spotlight without conflict.

It's important to recognize and preserve the purpose of this event, which is to exclusively celebrate the achievements of current seniors. Let us have our well-deserved moment to bid farewell to our high school cheerleading journey.
