Remove all unapproved speed bumps in Palm RD/ Granite Rd, San Marcos, CA. 92069

Remove all unapproved speed bumps in Palm RD/ Granite Rd, San Marcos, CA. 92069

The Issue

Imagine returning home from work, only to find that the entrance to your driveway has been obstructed by oversized, illegal speed bumps installed without your consent. This is the reality for us, the residents of San Marcos, California. We reside in a community without a Homeowners Association (HOA), where our neighborhoods should reflect the collective decisions and consensus of its residents, not the unchecked actions of a single individual.

Recently, a neighbor took it upon themselves to install these unauthorized speed bumps, and the repercussions have been immediately damaging. Over half of our neighbors oppose this unilateral decision, and with good reason—these speed bumps are not only damaging our vehicles but also posing a severe risk to our safety. Several cars have already suffered significant damage due to the sheer size of these speed bumps.

Our community also includes a boarding house, which frequently requires emergency medical attention due to events such as heart attacks and falls. Having ambulances and firefighting units slowed down by these speed bumps in moments of life-threatening emergencies can result in tragic outcomes. In the case of heart attacks, every second counts, and a slight delay could quite literally be the difference between life and death.

According to data from the National Institute of Standards and Technology, even small delays in emergency response times can drastically affect survival rates. When every second counts, the presence of unauthorized speed bumps becomes more than just an inconvenience; it turns our streets into potential danger zones.

We ask the City of San Marcos and its planning department to take immediate action to remove all unapproved and illegal speed bumps from our neighborhoods. We urge city officials to prioritize the safety and welfare of its residents by ensuring compliance with municipal codes and regulations governing the installation of such measures.

Let's protect our community's integrity, safety, and well-being. Stand with us to demand the removal of these unlawful and hazardous obstacles from our streets. Sign this petition to request action from our local authorities and keep our streets safe and accessible for all.
