Taylor Swift had all her old master recordings stolen by industry figure Scooter Braun of SB Projects. Scooter now has the right to make, sell, and distribute more copies of her records and make all money that comes from it. For example, if someone wants to use one of her songs in a YouTube video, they need to ask Scooter for permission and pay him a fee. That fee should go to Taylor Swift. When she switched record labels in November of 2018, she demanded before she signed with them that she would own all of her master recordings. The first album she released that she actually owned was Lover. All songs and albums she released prior to 2018 were still in the hands of Big Machine Label Group where they are owned by Scooter Braun. 

Scooter Braun needs to give all of Taylors master recordings back to her. They are rightfully hers but because of Big Machine Label Group and Scooter Braun, Swift is loosing out on millions of dollars that are going to Braun. Whenever someone streams a Taylor Swift song or album that is not owned by her, the revenue from that person streaming that song goes to Big Machine Label Group and Scooter Braun. If things stay the same, Scooter and the label group will continue to make a profit off of Taylors hard work; but if things change, then Taylor will finally be able to make profit off of her own songs. Taylor will than be able to decide who can use, re-make, and distribute her songs. 

What’s currently going on is not right. Taylor Swift should be able to profit off of HER OWN songs. Scooter Braun should not be able to own the rights of her master recordings because they are rightfully hers. All of the hard work Taylor puts into her albums and songs should be beneficial to her; not someone that has nothing to do with her music. The importance of immediate action is crucial for Taylor Swift so she can finally regain ownership of her master recordings.
