My children, like so many others in Saint Joseph, Missouri, have been caught in a whirlwind of mismanagement and misguided decisions by our current school board. They recently closed a high school that was pivotal to our community, forcing my kids to switch schools.

This change has shifted my children's commute from just half a mile from our home to over 1.6 miles away across town. Such poor planning not only disrupts families but symbolizes a deeper issue of disconnect between the board and the needs of our community. And this is just the tip of the iceberg.

The current school board members have consistently made decisions that hinder educational opportunities and future prospects for our children. We cannot stand idly by as they systematically dismantle the educational infrastructure that should be supporting our children's growth and development.

Accountability is clearly lacking. The closures and redistricting they enforce ignore the practical realities families face and neglect the educational standards our children deserve. The lack of transparency and community involvement in these decisions shows a blatant disregard for the voices of the families they are supposed to serve.

But we have the power to make a change. By removing these current board members, and crucially, not replacing them with any past members, we can pave the way for new leadership that truly represents our community. We need individuals who prioritize the best interests of students, who are open to dialogue with parents, and who possess the foresight to make decisions that secure a brighter future for our children.

Let us mobilize as a community to demand change. We deserve a school board that listens, that leads, and most importantly, that cares.

Sign this petition to restore accountability and integrity to the Saint Joseph school board. Together, we can work towards an education system that reflects the needs and aspirations of our community.
