Remove Aggressive Officer From Goldsboro Police Department--Protect Our Communities

The Issue

On January 28, 2025 an unnamed Goldsboro Police Officer was caught on video body slamming 27 year old Telek Carter who was already in handcuffed and subdued by three officers. As a result of this unwarranted attack, Mr. Carter sustained a dislocated soulder, cracked ribs and other injuries. Despite the clear cut video and community outrage, the Goldsboro police department initially stood by the officer's actions. However, after news coverage and social media pressure, the department has placed the officer on administrative leave or duties and called for their own internal investigation. Because of the traumatizing nature of this event, and the people negatively impacted, we in the community feel that this is not enough. We are calling for the immediate removal of said officer in order to set a clearcut precedent that any abuse of power, unnecessary and excessive force will not be tolerated and will encounter swift and exact punishment and consequences. Police officers are supposed to protect and serve and should be held to a higher standard in the performance of duties. If this behavior goes unchecked, there will be a high risk of other actions by officers that put community members at an opportunity for imminent physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual damage while having to witness unprofessional, unethical, and inhumane actions by those who are sworn to uphold the law. We cannot let this continue and this is the first step to eradicating bad behavior by law enforcement.
