The Issue

I've found so much joy and connection through playing pickleball at our local courts. It has been a significant part of my life, not only strengthening existing friendships but also helping me to forge new ones. However, recent regulations have made it difficult, if not impossible, for those under the age of 18 to access these courts freely, which is deeply concerning.

Pickleball is a sport that promotes physical fitness, teamwork, and community bonding. For many young people, it provides a space where they can develop essential life skills such as discipline, collaboration, and communication. Locking them out from this opportunity contradicts the community spirit that pickleball stands for.

Currently, there is a lock on our local pickleball courts with an age restriction, creating an unnecessary barrier for younger players. Studies indicate that engaging in sports from a young age not only boosts physical health but also enhances mental well-being, leading to better performance in academics and reducing risky behaviors.

Let's reconsider these regulations and unlock the courts for everyone, regardless of age. Open access to public facilities is crucial in supporting youth engagement in sports, especially in urban environments where safe and healthy outdoor recreational activities are limited.

By removing the lock and allowing kids under 18 to play, we can keep the positive spirit of our community alive. Let’s foster an environment where young people can not only have fun but also grow stronger, both physically and socially.

Please sign this petition to urge local authorities to take action and ensure fair and equal access to our pickleball courts for all ages. Your support can make a tangible difference in our community's future, promoting inclusivity and health for everyone.
