I, the creator of this petition, am deeply concerned about the distressing situation my good friend Maryann is currently facing on Twitter. Maryann is a huge Johnny Depp fan and recently had the incredible opportunity to meet him, which was a dream come true for her. However, since she shared her story online, one woman named Theresa Curry has been relentlessly abusing her with abelist comments.

Theresa Curry's behavior goes beyond mere online harassment. She has gone as far as creating disgusting accounts solely for the purpose of targeting Maryann. This relentless bullying has taken a toll on Maryann's mental health to such an extent that she had to seek medical help and obtain sleeping medication from her GP.

Maryann now lives in constant fear, afraid to leave her own house in case Theresa or any of her associates are around mocking and shouting abelist comments at her. This level of intimidation is unacceptable and should not be tolerated on any social media platform.

It is crucial that we take action against individuals like Theresa Curry who use their online presence to spread hate and target vulnerable individuals like Maryann. We must ensure that Twitter remains a safe space for everyone by removing abusers who engage in discriminatory behavior.

While it may be challenging to quantify the exact impact of cyberbullying on mental health, numerous studies have shown its detrimental effects. Research conducted by The National Institutes of Health (NIH) indicates that cyberbullying can lead to increased levels of anxiety, depression, self-harm tendencies, and even suicidal thoughts among victims.

We call upon Twitter's management team to thoroughly investigate this matter and take appropriate action against Theresa Curry for violating their community guidelines regarding harassment and discrimination based on disability (abelism). By removing Theresa from Twitter permanently or imposing strict penalties such as suspension or account restrictions if deemed necessary after investigation results are obtained, we can send a strong message that such behavior will not be tolerated.
