The Issue

In our once beautiful and orderly neighborhood, the influx of dumped Lime bikes has become a growing concern, affecting both safety and the aesthetics of our community. The clutter of bikes is not just an eyesore but a hazard. On children’s paths to school or local play areas, these bikes often obstruct walkways, forcing them onto busy roads. It's unsettling knowing that every trip outdoors presents a potential risk to our youngest residents.

Furthermore, the vibrant greens of Lime bikes that were meant to be the symbol of ecological transport have ironically become symbols of neglect. Streets lined with them deter potential visitors and diminish the charm of our neighborhood. Their abandonment speaks to a systemic issue of inadequate management and accountability from Lime.

There are solutions readily available! Lime should implement strategic collection routines ensuring timely removal of bikes and developing user guidelines to educate users on responsible parking. Installing designated drop-off points throughout our area can reduce random dumping and improve accessibility. Lime must be proactive in working with city authorities to guarantee a clean and safe living area for all.

Abandoned bikes can increase the risk of accidents by 20% and reduce property values by approximately 5% due to decreased neighborhood appeal. Ensuring our streets remain clear from these obstructions is critical for the safety and wellbeing of our community.

Join me (Christine Mulvey)in urging Lime and local authorities to prioritize the maintenance and management of Lime bikes in our area. It's time to take a stand for the safety and aesthetics of our neighborhood. By signing this petition, you are voicing the community's demand for action and helping restore our streets to their true potential.
