Perhaps now, more than ever, we see the importance of our outdoor resources as a safe haven to find some peace and sense of normalcy. Daily, hundreds of people have been observed to be safely socially distancing while biking and walking the Veterans Recreation Trail at EPCAL that surrounds this important at-risk land.
Unfortunately, we have not heard of any concrete plan to save EPCALs 1050 acres! To lose these 1050 acres to private hands would be a huge loss for all! If you can- go visit now and see the migratory birds coming back and maybe even spot the bald eagles that have been around- not to mention the blooming native plants and the active vernal ponds that support so much life. It is ALL there and it ALL remains at imminent risk.
As contract deadlines loom, please write the Riverhead Town Board Supervisor and CC Board Members with a the simple request to "Save EPCALS 1050." Maybe these acres personally matter to you and perhaps the board would appreciate knowing why. The reality is, there are ways the Board CAN absolutely SAVE this land but only if they hear from enough of us. Your timely efforts matter and are greatly appreciated! We wish everyone the absolute best at this time- thank you for your support!
