Concerned Parents of Whitmore Charter are requesting the removal of Steven Merchant as Principal of Whitmore Charter in Ceres, CA. This decision doesn’t come easily, but after years of neglecting parent concerns, not putting the students best interest first, it is time for him to leave. 

Whitmore Charter used to be a place of community. An extra Large family if you will. Families showed up for events, sports, awards shows, extra curricular activities. It was the “IT SCHOOL.” The wait list was longer than Santa’s Nice List. When Mr. Merchant joined Whitmore, things changed quickly. Irresponsible allocation of schools funds led to the exit of an integral staff member at Whitmore. Behavioral issues were no longer addressed. Staff morale tanked, which led to the exit of roughly 11 staff. Some tenured. 
Families that voiced concerns were silenced or retaliated on. CUSD chose to ignore the parents and the concerns of students and kept Merchant in place. Fast forward a few years, and the school is in a sad state. Morale is at the lowest of lows. Staple families who raised their kids at Whitmore are now considering pulling their families and going elsewhere. Some even out of CUSD completely. 
Every parent you speak to has had a negative experience with Mr. Merchant. Unresolved bullying, no discipline for the kids that have continuing behavioral issues, admin pulling kids from class without notifying parents, speaking to minors with out witnesses, retaliation on students and parents that make complaints to him or admin, not releasing inadequate staff for the betterment of students, including Ms. Marcucci the middle school tech teacher, the list goes on. 
We ask that CUSD support Whitmore students and parents by relieving Mr. Merchant from his role as Principal.
