The Issue

Our students and teachers in Kentucky Schools are suffering under the strict network barrier known as GoGuardian. This software, although deployed with intentions for safer digital learning, has hampered access to many educational sites that enhance the learning process. Teachers are left scrambling to find alternatives, losing valuable class time in the process. This is negatively impacting the quality of education in our schools.

Considering the increasingly important role of the internet and digital resources in education, this barrier is not just inconvenient - it's a hindrance to the growth and development of our students. For instance, a Pew Research Center study pointed out that nearly all teachers (96%) agree that digital technologies “allow students to share their work with a wider and more varied audience”. With GoGuardian in the way, this potential enrichment is taken away.

We are calling on the decision-makers of Kentucky Board of Education to remove GoGuardian from our computers, guaranteeing less frustration for our teachers and a more efficient, richer learning experience for our students. Please, help us in advocating for an improved digital environment in our classrooms. Sign this petition and stand up for the students and teachers of Kentucky Schools.
