The Issue

Our children deserve a safe and nurturing educational environment, where they can learn and grow without fear of being exposed to harmful ideologies. As a concerned parent in Anne Arundel County, MD, I have become increasingly troubled by the presence of Christopher Davenport, a teacher whose teachings have promoted hate speech and pro-gun violence to our impressionable young minds while in school, during class.

In recent days since the murder of Charlie Kirk, there have been numerous reports and firsthand accounts from middle school aged students and parents alike of Mr. Davenport's use of inflammatory language that encourages division and hostility. No child should hear that a murder is justified, especially from their trusted teacher. Our schools should be sanctuaries of respect and understanding, not places where hate and violence are perpetuated. This is not just a personal grievance but a community-wide concern that must be addressed immediately.

Data from the Anne Arundel County Public Schools indicate that inclusive and positive educational practices greatly enhance students' learning experiences and outcomes. Allowing Mr. Davenport to continue his harmful rhetoric contradicts these educational standards and puts our children at risk of adopting divisive and violent mindsets.

We must hold our educators to the highest standards to ensure they are shaping our future leaders to be compassionate and responsible citizens. While freedom of expression is a fundamental right, it must not infringe on the safety and well-being of our children.

I call on the Anne Arundel County Board of Education to take immediate action to evaluate Mr. Davenport’s conduct and remove him if these allegations hold true. Our children deserve educators who inspire unity and understanding, not division and aggression.

Please sign this petition to help protect our community's values and the safety of our children. Together, we can create a supportive educational atmosphere where every child can thrive. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
