Removal of an unprovoked, vicious and aggressive animal, that has bit my child

The Issue

On July 11th at approx 1:50 pm, my 15 year old daughter was walking home from a sleep over from her friend's house. She was carrying a couple large black bags and her loose items, leaving her no hands to defend herself. As she was walking past the neighbors house, 2 houses down,  she didn't see the "angry" (as she says) border collie leashed outside so her guard was down. Normally she walks closer to the street because the dog charges to the sidewalk and maxes out it's leash while barking aggressively. The owner will then walk out at times to hit the dog, or just yell for her to stop barking. So It's not an isolated event, and not just towards my children. There are reports from others in the area but nothing is being done because they keep dismissing it.

This traumatic morning for my daughter resulted in her being chased to the street and having her leg bit by this dog, that rushed through a plastic covered hole in the enclosed porch. The owner had lied about the encounter, and decided to fight the removal of this animal. Rallying the neighborhood to join him.  My daughter has dealt with the pain of her leg down to the muscle, with bruising and tenderness. In addition to the fear of walking our neighborhood, all due to this attack. This man walks the dog every where, as he tells, and my daughter is in fear to be out walking now. Period. She will no longer go past this house in fear of it attacking her again, and he was recently allowed to keep this dog, with training required. This is not going to change a thing. He's a strange individual to begin with, and his ways of "aggressive training" is only making the dog act out in aggression.

After lying and withholding information, he got 40 people to sign a petition agreeing to support this animal. Multiple people appeared in person to say this man was a great dog owner, and that he walks her and she's "well behaved". Sometimes may be true, but he abuses the dog to make her listen to him. He denied it at first then admitted to hitting her "to get her attention". He also admitted this dog IS aggressive to some people and he doesn't know why. But he found the people she's behaving for and got them to sign their names.  Without knowing the full story or being aware of this dogs living conditions, they decided to favor the man and his dog.

We are asking for your support to weigh in the importance of my children's safety and peace of mind in their own neighborhood. Let alone the safety of anyone else this dog may attack. Please sign our petition to have this dog removed from it's current owner and/or displaced outside of city limits.

Thank you
