Removal of 2 hour time limits along 113 Street between 105 & 106 Avenue
Removal of 2 hour time limits along 113 Street between 105 & 106 Avenue
The Issue
Recently along 113 Street between 105th and 106th NW the city has implemented new parking regulations. This includes angle parking and 2 hour time limits - Monday to Saturday 8:00AM to 10:00PM and Sundays 10:00AM to 5:00PM. There is no precedent for the 2 hour time limits. The only citizens that park along this street are tenants in the three condo buildings that surround the intersection of 113St & 105Ave. Many families and students live in these buildings and do not get the luxury or have the funds to afford an underground parking spot. Furthermore, these condo buildings do not have enough underground parking stalls for all the tenants which means there is no choice but to store your vehicle on the street.
Tenants parking on this street, to store their vehicles, were not impeding any businesses or major roadways. Along this street there is one business (that appears to have it's own lot) and an empty city lot on the east side...meaning no one NEEDS this street space for official or recreational purposes.
There also becomes a safety concern by having both sides of the street angle parking. This has significantly narrowed the street for single lane traffic which will impact the ability of emergency or service vehicles to navigate the area. Angle parking would be fine along one side but not on both.
Up until a couple weeks ago the parking situation was serving this area fine and now the city has decided to set up a cash grab. Please sign this petition to be sent to city officials to remove at minimum the two hour limits.
