Relook into the Competency of NUS Senior Management
Relook into the Competency of NUS Senior Management
The Issue
For too long, the leadership at the National University of Singapore (NUS) has functioned in an environment where autocracy has overshadowed genuine leadership. As someone who has been directly affected by their governance, I feel it is time for us to take a stand. The decisions made by the NUS senior management often overlook valuable feedback from staff, who are pivotal in driving the university forward.
Numerous staff members, dedicated to nurturing the minds of Singapore's future leaders, feel sidelined and voiceless. The reliance on rigid hierarchical structures has resulted in decisions that sometimes are not in the best interest of the staff or students. There is a growing discontent among those who pour their hearts into making NUS a beacon of education, only to see their insights brushed aside.
This calls for a re-evaluation of the competencies and leadership style of the senior management team, ensuring they can adapt to modern educational demands while fostering a more inclusive and collaborative environment. NUS, as a leading academic institution, must lead by example. It is crucial for the senior management to recognise the importance of open communication and responsiveness to constructive criticism from its workforce.
By signing this petition, you echo the demand for transparency and accountability from the senior leaders at NUS. We call for a balanced review that genuinely considers the input of all stakeholders and moves towards a progressive leadership model that values participation from every level. We need to ensure that NUS remains a respected institution, not just for its academic achievements but for its commitment to fair and responsive governance.
Sign this petition today to voice your demand for positive change and a more inclusive and responsive leadership at NUS.
