From the town church in Wittenberg the "Judensau" should disappear. Friedrich Kramer, Bishop of the Protestant Church in Central Germany, has another idea. By Timo Lehmann (protocol)

I do not like the term 'Judensau', I prefer the plastic 'Luthersau'. This immediately makes clear the abuse of the Jews by Luther and describes the unique aspect of the Wittenberg account. In the GDR in 1983, the Junge Gemeinde demanded the acceptance for the first time. I thought that was right, I came from Wittenberg myself. It was a devout church, and so was the motive: A Christian can not berate anyone. The city parish decided differently, below the sow a memorial was placed in the ground. It was a dialectical solution, the thesis was: The sow stays tuned. And the antithesis: we show our guilt and the dark story. The synthesis takes place in the mind: What does that mean today? As smart as it was then, today it does not work anymore. Therefore, I am in favor of removing the stigmatization and exhibiting it directly on site in an enlarged monument.
