The silent vigils on the market in Wittenberg will be continued: Wednesday, from 27 September to 8 November 2017, 15-18 hrs. Initiators of the silent vigil are pastor Thomas Piehler (Pavilion of Hope, Leipzig) and sister Joela Krüger (Protestant Marienschwesternschaft, Darmstadt), who are very grateful about the past impact of the vigils in May and June 2017 and now write:
A new discussion has been sparked by the coverage of various media. Especially the time article by Christoph Dieckmann with the title "Luthersau" brought it to the point. The "Judensau" on the Wittenberg church (photo) is and remains linked with the person of Luther and his inciting "prose" against the Jews. Anyone who pleads for the persistence of the malicious let-taking at the church overlooks the fact that the "Judensau" is a "imprisoned word of abuse", which "humanity" denies. Even in our basic law it is anchored that the dignity of man is inviolable. The dignity of Jewish men is, however, immeasurably disturbed and severely damaged in the deluge. We therefore call upon those responsible again,
Signs of respect and friendship against Jewish religion and culture
The Evangelical Church in Germany has a special responsibility to decisively counter antisemitism in all its forms. Keeping to the depicted Judensau would be a tragic error to society and to our Jewish fellow-citizens. In the face of this past and the re-emergence of anti-Semitism in the present, those responsible are called upon to place an unmistakable sign of respect and friendship against Jewish religion and culture.

The world looks to Wittenberg in 2017. This signal (decrease of "Judensau") would be perceived and understood in the Jubilee year of the Reformation worldwide
: Never again anti-Semitism and Jew hatred!
Organizational and content notes for the silent vigils on the market at Wittenberg:
Ø We cordially invite you to join the vigil between the 13.9. and 8.11.2017. This information can be passed on to friends and acquaintances.
Ø The initiators provide transparencies, plaques and flyers and ask to give up their own transparencies and flag symbols.
Ø The name "Stille" Mahnwachen describes the concern: in the silence we want to point out the "Alliance for the acceptance of the Judensau in the Reformation year 2017". We do not invite you to a
discussion session. The transparencies provided by the initiators clearly underline the concern.
Ø Everyone is welcome, even if only a short time of attendance is possible.
Ø At the end of the vigil we go to the church of St.Maria, to protest in silence against the smuggling.
Ø If you want to participate in the expenses, you can do this via the donation account given below.
