We are residents of Pasco County, Florida, raising concerns about the planned emergency access easement from the new high school site to English Turn Way. My home sits directly next to the proposed emergency access point, and my children play in the street segment shown on the plans. Even though this connection is currently designated as “emergency access,” its physical design will determine how it is actually used. If it is easily walkable or simple to park near, there is a real possibility that parents and students will treat it as a convenient cut‑through or informal pickup and drop‑off location. That would bring additional traffic and pedestrian activity into a small residential street that was never intended to function as a school access route. Our concern is not with the new school itself—we support expanded educational opportunities in our community. Our concern is with how this emergency access is implemented and the impact it may have on the safety and character of our neighborhood. Children use this street like a play space, and any design that encourages regular school‑related use at this point of connection increases risk for those families. There are viable alternatives that would route access to existing non‑residential or arterial roads better suited to handle school‑related movement. We believe emergency access should be designed and secured in a way that serves true emergency needs without encouraging everyday use from the surrounding campus. We respectfully ask Pasco County and Pasco County Schools to: • Clarify the intended design and restrictions for the English Turn Way emergency access easement. • Ensure that any emergency connection is fully secured and controlled so it does not function as an informal entrance or pickup/drop‑off area. • Prioritize routing regular campus access to non‑residential roads rather than through neighborhood streets.
