Relocate BHMS 6-8 graders to the old CC Blaney's Elementary School campus

The Issue

To: Charleston County School District From: Concerned Parents, Guardians, and Community

We, the undersigned, respectfully request that the Charleston County School Board take immediate action to relocate Baptist Hill Middle School 6th through 8th grade students from their current shared campus with BHHS,  to the CC Blaney Elementary School  location at 7184 Hwy 162, Hollywood, SC  29449

Reason for this petition includes:

1.       Developmental Needs: Middle school students have unique academic, emotional, and social needs that are best supported in an environment tailored specifically to their age group.

2.      Safety and Supervision: Separating middle school students from older age groups allows for better supervision, less bullying, and more appropriate peer interactions.

3.      Academic Focus: A dedicated campus will allow for specialized middle school curriculum and activities that better prepare students for high school.

4.      Space and Overcrowding: The current campus allows interaction with High School students, which is a very unhealthy environment for the younger students.

5.      Extracurricular Opportunities: A separate campus can provide access to age-appropriate sports, clubs, and enrichment programs geared specifically for grades 6–8.

We believe that moving 6th–8th grade students to the CC Blaney campus is in the best interest of their education and overall well-being.

We respectfully urge the board to:

1.      Move Baptist Hill Middle School students to CC Blaney's  location for a separate middle school campus.

2.      Engage with parents, educators, and students to plan the transition.

3.      Set a timeline for the move, with transparency and regular updates to stakeholders.

Thank you for your attention to this important matter.
