There are Tik Toks floating around of people using unconsecrated hosts to make snacks (like nachos, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches as well as dog treats.

 IT IS NOT OKAY!  

Though the hosts are not consecrated, they are a sacred symbol of the Catholic Church and many religions.  Consecrated hosts, through the mystery of God, have undergone transubstantiation on the altar.  Unconsecrated hosts have yet to be blessed.  In both circumstances, they appear the same to the human eye. What kind of message are we trying to send to young Catholics and new believers who see videos like a dog being fed a communion bread as a treat?

We have reported the videos, but urge social media platforms to respect religions as part of the ongoing conversations of social justice.  By signing this petition, we aim to stop this malicious act from further damage.  We also ask Amazon and other religious suppliers to verify buyers of items meant for church use so that these items do not fall into the wrong hands.
