Thanks to your mammoth effort in the last sitting weeks of the year, we were successful in scuttling the government’s plans to force a vote on the Religious Discrimination Bill in the lower house. But now the government wants to rush a vote on the Bill in the final two sitting weeks before they call election, commencing 7 February.
Thank you for all you’ve done to protect women, people with disabilities, LGBTIQA+ people, and anyone else who would be a victim of this Bill. Together, we ensured more scrutiny of the Bill and forced the Morrison government to remove some of its worst elements, but there’s more to be done.
We know that the Australian Christian Lobby and other opponents of equality are mobilising their supporters in favour of the Bill. That’s why we must take action now to ensure the members of the parliamentary inquiries listen to us.
Please add your name to the People’s Submission today.
Thank you for all for using your voice to stand up for the vulnerable this year. We couldn’t have gotten this far without you!
Kind regards,
Emma Linton
