I write to you today with some disappointing news: despite the majority of Australians opposing the Religious Discrimination Bill*, yesterday's released Senate committee reports only offered up tiny technical amendments (or in some parts suggested amendments that would make the Bill worse).
The Bill is due to be debated in Parliament THIS TUESDAY. That's why we need to contact our MPs and Senators today, to ask them to oppose this legislation. Can you please tap here to send a new polite, pre-written email?
This could be our last chance to shape the future of Australia, before the government tosses out critical protections for women, LGBTIQ+ people, people with disability and even people of faith.
If passed, the Religious Discrimination Bill will award legal protections to people who make offensive, humiliating or degrading statements at school, at work, or in service settings.
Before the bill goes to debate next Tuesday, will you write to your MP to ask them to #stopthehandmaidstalebill?
On behalf of everyone who will be hurt by this bill, I thank you for your support thus far.
