Restart the broadcasting of KBS World TV channel on Reliance DTH
The Issue
Dear All,
Reliance Digital TV or Reliance Big tv DTH used to air a Korean TV channel called "KBS World TV" on their DTH service. But since 22nd January 2015 the broadcast has been stopped by Reliance DTH. On enquiring why was KBS World Tv channel was stopped in India, we got a reply that it was KBS world who stopped it services. After calling KBS World in Korea headquarters, they told Reliance DTH has increased their rental for broadcasting on their DTH services. Therefore, KBS has to stop their broadcast as they cannot bear the revised rental charges in India.
This petition is to let all the concerned decision makers to know that there are many viewers in India who like K-Dramas, K-pop music and South Korean culture. KBS World TV was their source to watch the korean tv programs. As Reliance Big tv was the only DTH service who provided KBS world TV in India there is no other option to find KBS world on any other DTH services. There are large number of viewers who are missing the K-Dramas and tv series since last 1 and half year. Watching it on internet is no option as we don't get so much speed on the live streaming due to low speed of internet in India. We don't get a feel of watching it on PC what we used to enjoy on our Television with our whole families.
KBS World is not just a Tv channel but it a bridge between Indian and Korean people. This tv channel has provided lots of entertainment, education and cultural exchanges between the two countries. KBS has contributed a lot to the Indian audiences to know about the Korean culture Korean food and Korean language which was unknown and not accessible to Indian audiences. This channel has also resulted in a boots to tourism in Korea as many Indian tourists started to explore the beautiful places in South Korea. Stopping such a family friendly channel for money is like stopping the virtual cultural bridge between India and South Korea.
Therefore, I request Reliance Digital Tv (DTH service) and KBS world TV to please sort out these issues as there are many viewers in India missing the KBS world channel on their Television.
