NO MORE KINBERG CUT, JUST RELEASE THE UNSEEN MATERIAL

Dark Phoenix, directed by Simon Kinberg, was released in June 2019 (Originally due to premiere on November 2018) with a runtime of 1hr54min.

The film went through a complicated production due to the merge of 20th Century Fox and Disney and as a consequence, the original plan of a two-films version (confirmed by Simon Kinberg, Chris Claremont and Josh Boone) had to be massively reduced to one film. The ideas that Simon Kinberg initially had, were discarded and hardly compacted. Losing key elements of the comics and also making it complex to depict in a single installment. Originally the two films would be shot consecutively, therefore two major sets were built first (the New York set for The Part One and the United Nations scenario for The Part Two).

Elements of the original plan were brought together into a single story and production of the film started off, while it was constantly changing. Resulting in a compact version, filmed, edited and with post-production work far from being finished. This version had a test screening with audiences ... something highly superficial that the Studios usually take as a decisive step for any modifications.

This film howsoever becomes a more intimate and human chapter for the development of Jean's story. Focusing more on the problems that a great power brings to her and the resurgence of unresolved childhood traumas. But apparently the audience of the test screening did not like that but wanted another superhero movie with more action and all the X-Men fighting together... instead of a third act that included only Jean, Professor X and Cyclops against an invasion of Skrulls. (Information confirmed by actor Tye Sheridan, who portrayed Cyclops)

The Studio allegedly decided to change the entire third act.

The director and producer saw this as an opportunity to enhance the emotional level and physical confrontation for the final version, hence what we saw in the theater.

And although, many of us did LOVE the final version as we saw it ... it is inevitable to see the way the film unfolds so hastily and it seems to have a lot more to tell, but without the time to do so. And thanks to confidential testimonials (due to any legal issues), we learned that a better paced version exists. As well as a completely different 3rd act.

These versions EXIST and were SEEN by many. Nothing strange, since there were tests screenings.

In 2020, Simon Kinberg stated at an event with IGN that the theatrical version is his vision (which is why we have left behind the campaign of a Kinberg Cut), but also confirmed the existence of the never-before-seen scenes (including some without the final visuals effects). And he argued that ultimately RESTORE his original vision would only work by letting him make the two movies he had in mind in the first place. And yes... "that's the tea".

Thanks to trailers, TV spots & Concept Arts we can verify the existence of several deleted scenes that we have not seen yet. Not even in the Extras from the Blu-Ray. Except for a few of them. According to the comments of the people who saw the first cut, which includes the 3rd act at the United Nations (named UN Cut), the runtime was close to a 2hr40min film. 

We are not interested in the opinion of the critics or the way in which many people were carried away by the constant attack on a film that had not even been even released. Whether the movie was sabotaged or not it is something that will come out in due course. Many will know why these theories exist.

Whether or not the film connected with the audience, is something that Simon Kinberg should not doubt since there are thousands of people who love the film as it was released, we love the cast and the X-Men saga in general. And that is why, knowing the background of this production, we declare our request for the release of the UNSEEN MATERIAL of the version that was projected early in 2018.

1. Release all the deleted scenes. Which are not only alternate takes, but complete sequences that proposed a different course for the narrative.
2. VFXs are not necessary.
   It is not our interest to generate pressure for a monetary investment in a new versión. We would be pleased to receive the material in any way. In many trailers we can see that too many sequences have finished effects, mainly those related to Jean Grey.

As simple as that.

NO MÁS CORTE DE KINBERG, SOLO LIBEREN EL MATERIAL NO VISTO

Dark Phoenix, dirigida por Simon Kinberg, se lanzó en junio de 2019 (originalmente se lanzaría en noviembre de 2018) con una duración de 1 hora y 54 minutos.

La película pasó por una producción complicada debido a la venta del estudio FOX y como consecuencia, un plan original de dos películas (confirmado por Simon Kinberg, Chris Claremont y Josh Boone) tuvo que reducirse masivamente a una. Las ideas que Simon tenía inicialmente, debían descartarse y otras compactarse. Se perdieron elementos clave de los cómics pero complejos de desarrollar en una sola entrega. Originalmente, las dos películas se rodarían consecutivamente, por lo que se construyeron dos escenarios principales antes (el escenario de Nueva York para la primera parte y el de las Naciones Unidas para la segunda parte).

Los elementos del plan original se reunieron en una sola historia y la producción comenzó, mientras cambiaba constantemente. Dando como resultado una versión compacta, filmada, editada y con trabajo de postproducción por terminar. Esta versión tuvo una proyección de prueba con público ... algo muy superficial que los estudios toman como estándar para modificar películas.

Esta película se convierte en un capítulo más íntimo y humano para el desarrollo de la historia de Jean. Centrándose más en los problemas que un gran poder le traen y el resurgimiento de traumas infantiles no resueltos. Pero aparentemente la audiencia de la proyección de prueba no quería eso y quería otra película de superhéroes con acción y todos los X-Men peleando juntos ... en lugar de un tercer acto que incluía solo a Jean, el Profesor X y Cyclops contra una invasión de Skrulls. (Información confirmada por el actor Tye Sheridan, quien dio vida a Cyclops)

El estudio decidió cambiar todo el tercer acto. (Supuestamente)

El director y productor vieron esto como una oportunidad para potenciar el nivel emocional y el enfrentamiento físico para la versión final, que vimos en los cines. 

Y aunque SÍ, a muchos nos ENCANTA la versión final tal como es ... es inevitable ver la forma en que la película se desarrolla tan apresuradamente y parece que tiene mucho que contar, pero sin el tiempo para hacerlo. Y gracias a testimonios confidenciales (debido a evitar problemas legales), nos enteramos de que existe una versión con un mejor ritmo. Así como un tercer acto completamente diferente.
Estas versiones EXISTEN y fueron VISTAS por muchos. Nada extraño, ya que hubo proyecciones pruebas.

En 2020, Simon Kinberg afirmó en un evento con IGN que la versión de cines es su visión (por eso hemos dejado atrás la campaña de un Kinberg Cut), pero también confirmó la existencia de escenas nunca antes vistas (incluidas algunas sin efectos visuales terminados). Y argumentó que, en última instancia, RESTAURAR su visión original solo funcionaría si le permitieran hacer las dos películas que tenía en mente al principio. Y sí ... "ese es el té".

Gracias a trailers, anuncios de televisión y artes conceptuales podemos verificar la existencia de varias escenas eliminadas que aún no hemos visto. Ni siquiera en las escenas borradas del blu-ray. Excepto por algunas de ellas. (Material editado y disponible en el canal oficial de YouTube de esta campaña, buscalo como Dark Phoenix: Desglose del UN Cut y Conceptos Originales "Renaciendo de las Cenizas").

Según los comentarios de las personas que vieron el primer corte, que incluye el tercer acto en las Naciones Unidas (llamado UN Cut), la duración fue cercana a las 2hr40min.

No nos interesa la opinión de la crítica ni la forma en que mucha gente se dejó llevar por el ataque constante a una película que ni siquiera se había estrenado. Si la película fue saboteada o no es algo que saldrá a la luz a su debido tiempo. Muchos sabrán por qué existen estas teorías.

Si la película conectó o no con la audiencia, es algo de lo que Simon Kinberg no debe dudar ya que hay miles de personas que aman la película tal y como se estrenó, nos encanta el elenco y la saga mutante en general.
Y es por eso que, conociendo los antecedentes de esta producción, declaramos nuestra solicitud para la liberación del MATERIAL NO VISTO de la versión que se proyectó a principios de 2018.

1. Libera todas las escenas eliminadas. Las cuales no son solo tomas alternas, sino secuencias completas que proponen un rumbo diferente para la narrativa.
2. Los efectos visuales no son necesarios.
   No nos interesa generar presión para una inversión monetaria en una nueva versión. Estaremos encantados de recibir el material de cualquier forma. En muchos trailers podemos ver que demasiadas secuencias tienen efectos terminados, principalmente las relacionadas con Jean Grey.

Tan simple como eso.
