We urge the German Federal Bureau of Aircraft Accident Investigation (BFU) to honor their commitment to transparency and promptly release the interim report concerning the crash of the military plane that tragically resulted in the death of the late Dr. Saulos Klaus Chilima, the Vice President of Malawi, and eight others on June 10, 2024.

According to the BFU’s website, the interim report, which is expected to include the facts gathered up to that point, was scheduled to be published in August 2024 in both English and German. Despite this, we have learned that while the interim report has been submitted to the Malawian Government, it has not yet been made public.

Dr. Saulos Klaus Chilima was a prominent public figure and a revered leader who served as Vice President of Malawi for ten years. His passing has had a profound impact on millions globally, and there is significant public interest in understanding the details of this tragic event.

We respectfully request that the BFU release the interim report as promised, to provide transparency and honor the public's right to information regarding this important investigation.
