In the interest of setting the record straight, I am clear on the fact that previous clemency requests were denied. However, due to the high profile nature of the case, attorney turnover, and persons handling the case who were NOT licensed to practice law, what I am NOT clear on is exactly what was submitted on my client's behalf and by whom. Therefore, I have taken the opportunity to provide a snapshot of what was submitted this time on Mr. York's behalf. It is my hope that the online Change.org Petition and the actual Clemency Package will work in tandem and all the legal aspects of his case will be appropriately considered and Mr. York's sentence will be commuted under the Clemency Initiative of 2014 because doing so is in the interest of justice.
