In 1995, Sega had planned to release a sports game for the Sega 32X called Sonic Sports. The gameplay would have been similar to Tiny Toon Adventures: ACME All-Stars on the Sega Genesis, as it would have had events such as Basketball, Soccer, and Volleyball. Sonic, Tails, and Ristar the Shooting Star were all planned to be playable characters in the game. Unfortunately, due to the commercial failure of the 32X, the game was scrapped. However, Sega has revisited the concept of crossover games featuring their IPs from 2004 to 2012 with the Sega Superstars series of games. These featured not just Sonic the Hedgehog, but more obscure Sega franchises such as NIGHTS, Super Monkey Ball, Samba De Amigo, and Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg. There were four games in the series; Sega Superstars (2004), Sega Superstars Tennis (2008), Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing (2010), and Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed (2012). I think that the Sega Superstars series of games should make a comeback with one more game in the series; Sega Superstars Sports, which revisits the concept of the cancelled Sonic Sports game by having all of its planned content, but with enhanced graphics and music, and new characters from Sega's IPs.
