Release Oscar Josue Melesio Don Juan from Stewart Detention Center

The Issue

Oscar Josue Melesio Don Juan was brought to the United States when he was eight years old, he is currently twenty-one years old. He was brought to this country to be given a better life. Oscar was a good student who just focused on his studies because he wanted to go off into college. He graduated from Northside High School in Warner Robins, GA in 2010. He was unable to go straight into college because he could not afford out-of-state tuition, so he decided to start working in order to save up for school and help out his family.

On May 1st, 2011 Oscar was driving his mother to the grocery store, they stopped to pump gas and a local police officer came into the gas station and asked to see a driver’s license. The charges he received were driving without a license and no seat belt, which Oscar says are false charges. When Oscar couldn’t give him a Georgia driver’s license he was taken into custody.

Oscar has been in this country for thirteen years and he is now in the biggest detention center in the country, Stewart. He is being treated as a criminal and we need to help him stay in the country he knows as home.
