The Issue

Imagine being labeled as a criminal and being torn away from the only family and support system you have, while facing life-threatening health problems. This is the harsh reality my father, an immigrant from Mexico, is enduring in ICE custody. He has chronic health issues that demand immediate and consistent medical care. Without receiving the proper treatments, his life is at risk.

My father's health is in a dire state. He suffers from a range of severe medical conditions including chronic eyesight issues, end-stage kidney disease requiring dialysis, heart failure, diabetes, and high blood pressure. These debilitating ailments mean he cannot live independently. Before his detention, he relied heavily on his children to drive him to his medical appointments and assist with daily tasks.

The current situation is endangering his life. The lack of proper medical care in custody could lead to irreversible damage or worse, a loss that no family should have to face. Several doctors have corroborated the fact that my father's condition requires urgent attention and care, which he is unable to receive while detained or far away from his family.

For my father, deportation is not just a legal challenge; it is a death sentence. As his sole immediate family in the United States, we are his lifeline, providing the necessary care and support system he needs to survive. We are desperate to bring him back home, where we can ensure he receives his vital treatments.

We implore ICE and the relevant authorities in Houston, Texas to show compassion and release my father from custody on humanitarian grounds. His life depends on the timely and appropriate medical care that only his family can facilitate. By signing this petition, you will stand with us in urging the authorities to prevent a potential tragedy and reunite our family before it's too late. Please help by signing this petition and being a voice for a man whose life is hanging in the balance. Together, we can make a difference.
