The Issue

Since 1963 Doctor Who has been shown first on the main BBC channel. Whilst I appreciate things change and the new Disney+ deal. But the decision to put Doctor Who on iPlayer first at midnight is unreasonable.

Expecting UK fans to stay up until an unsociable hour just so they can avoid spoilers is very unreasonable. In my household this will put an end to all of us watching it together in the same time. It alienates children and removes the impact of a whole family sitting down together to enjoy an episode of Doctor Who at the same time as the rest of the nation.

I propose moving the UK iPlayer launch for Doctor Who a few hours early so that people in the UK can watch the show together on a Friday night if they wish. If you do this for 8pm, it means the episode can go out on Disney+ in the US at 3pm. This small change could have a positive impact on UK viewers and allows us to join in around the world in watching.

Moving the episode release 3 hours earlier would allow.

Los Angeles (PT) - 1pm (10th)

New York - 4pm ET (10th)

Toronto - 4pm ET (10th)

London - 9pm BST (10th)

Paris - 10pm CEST (10th)

Berlin - 10pm CEST (10th)

Sydney - 6am (11th)

It's a shame the it's the UK viewers (the ones who have been supporting Doctor Who since the beginning) have to pay the biggest price time wise.
